Duty Statement: RESEARCH OFFICER

SUPERVISORS: First Secretary and High Commissioner

HOURS OF DUTY: 0830 – 1700 hours Monday and Tuesday; 0830 – 1230 Wednesday

DUTY STATEMENT

Under the direction and guidance of the High Commissioner,
Perform the role of Research and Policy Support to senior staff:
• monitor and report on information relevant to the High Commission through newspapers and other information sources;
• develop a wide knowledge of development projects and personnel in Kiribati and Kiribati government officers, members of parliament and development workers;

Perform the role of High Commissioner's Program Manager:
• manage the High Commissioner's Program including booking appointments and organising driver arrangements;
• organise the High Commissioner's appointments as required;

Perform the role of Contacts Officer:
• maintain the post contact email groups in the Post Address Book; and
• maintain up-to-date contacts for the Government of Kiribati (GoK) database.

Perform the role of Stationery & Inventory Management:
• maintain and manage (including ordering where necessary) the Post's inventory of stationery supplies;
• maintain an inventory of the High Commission's assets;

Perform the role of Back up Visits Officer:
• provide support to visits of Australian officials to Kiribati;
• maintain a system where experience gained in visits can be carried forward as part of the mission’s corporate knowledge

Perform the roles of Accounts Clerk and Cashier when the Public Affairs and Administration Officer is absent; 
 

Perform other duties as directed by the High Commissioner and the First Secretary.
